On Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Greg Reed (R-Jasper) issued the following statement commenting on the Supreme Court’s decision today regarding Alabama’s redistricting plan:
“The Alabama legislature worked closely with the Department of Justice to draw equitable Senate and House districts,” said Senator Reed. “That’s why DOJ provided pre-clearance for the maps in 2012. Today’s Supreme Court decision did not overturn our work; it simply asked the lower court to review the questions it asked the plaintiffs and defense. I am confident our current districts will be found fair and legal upon final review.”
Greg Reed is the Alabama Senate Majority Leader, and represents Senate District 5, which is comprised of all or parts of Winston, Walker, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, and Fayette counties. He and his wife, Mitsy, have three sons: Andrew, James, and John Michael.
